Money Saving Strategies for the Gerbes customer

We love to save money, it's become almost like a game to us.  We have employed these strategies while making it a priority to get the most savings out of our shopping trips. These are what we use to get the most out of our trips to Gerbes.

Some of the perks a Gerbes membership can give you .... these are the perks we capitalize on.

Digital coupons - Members can view and add coupons to their account on Gerbes' website. These sometimes can be used together with other in-store sales.

Mailed to home coupons - Gerbes sends coupons via snail mail based off of your purchasing habits. With these coupons I sometimes get free Wheat Thins or a free coffee drink. It's not a lot but free is free!

Catalina's - After checking out, from time to time, the register will spit out a coupon or two for me to use at a future date. These coupons are also relevant to what I've just purchased.

Eligibility to receive sale prices - At least once a month Gerbes will run a sale offering save $____ when you buy ____, mix and match thru the store. Another example of a good sale price is chicken breast always being $1.99/lb there. These deals require a Gerbes membership.

Set a grocery budget and stick to it!

This bit of advice goes hand in hand with the next bit. Set a budget that is reasonable and do your best not to go over it. Planning your finances and putting into place a budget can easily have you on your way to saving money!

 

Planning ahead DOES help. Make that list!

We make as detailed as a list as we possibly can before we even leave our home ... what to buy and how much of it. Going into a store without a list can be a very expensive mistake. Stick to your list as much as you can.

Push 2 carts if you need to.

During certain sales it's definitely easier to push 2 carts than to worry about mixing special sale items in with other sale items. Some sales require 4 or 5 items to get the discounted price, therefore, you need increments of 4 or 5 to get the deal overall.

If you find a good sale, stock up and save!

During some of Gerbes awesome sales we've scored Goldfish for $.99 a bag and Huggies Simply Clean baby wipes for $.99 each. With each of these situations we stocked up and bought as much as we could but stayed within our budget allotted.

Always look for closeout prices and produce close to expiration.

Gerbes will offer closeout items to its customers for an extremely low price. These tags are white and can be found anywhere in the store. In my experience, they don't have a limit set on how many of these items you can buy at one time.  They also mark down their close to expiration produce. If you know your family will drink that milk before it expires, GO FOR THE SAVINGS!!!
